Tom Hoch — a pioneer in revenue-based design and total turn-key, design-build interior architecture solutions– has launched a new ‘International Client Services Division’ to establish a platform for expansion into Europe and Asia.
The firm has selected United Kingdom (UK)-based Jerry Kilby, founder of Kanda Golf Marketing Services Ltd and former PGA Marketing Manager, to facilitate entry into the market and serve the diverse needs of clubs worldwide.
One of the most respected and experienced names in the golf industry, Kilby has served as a marketing consultant to the sports and leisure industry since 1993, and includes the Club Managers Association of Europe — for whom he fulfills a part-time role as CEO — among his clients. Duties included sports event and venue management as well as sponsorship negotiations for the Ryder Cup and other major sporting events in Europe, the Middle and Far East.
“Jerry’s depth and breadth of knowledge of the international golf industry will enable us to better assess and serve the needs of European and Asian clubs,” says Hoch. “Through the partnership with Jerry, we will adapt our revenue-based design model and other disciplines to the global club environment.”
“Tom Hoch is one of the most trusted and innovative designers in the industry, and we look forward to establishing and growing the brand worldwide,” adds Kilby. “Golf has truly emerged as a global game. Each market has unique challenges that extend to the built environment and the need to ensure clubhouses fit the business needs of the club and its members are more important today than perhaps ever before. The Tom Hoch platform is scalable to these complex situations.”
In the past 10 years, Kilby was a consultant to the Malaysian and Hong Kong Golf Associations working on the growth and development of their national Open Championships and these are now well-established joint venture events on the European and Asian Tours. He also served as general manager of Nad Al Sheba Club, Dubai — the Middle East’s busiest golf facility.
The International Client Services Division enables Tom Hoch to rapidly build on the market foothold it has secured via work with PGA National Russia at Zavidovo Golf and Lake Resort. The firm recently completed the space plan for the three-level clubhouse 65 miles northwest of Moscow. Tom Hoch developed an integrated-site plan, interior space plan, and amenity program for the English Arts and Crafts-style building, the centerpiece of the 7,400-yard championship golf course — one of Russia’s most-anticipated new golf courses. All work was completed remotely from the company’s headquarters in Oklahoma City in conjunction with Braemar Golf.
Other recent U.S. and internationally-based Tom Hoch projects include: The Ritz-Carlton, Dove Mountain (Marana, Arizona); The Members’ Golf Club at The Ritz-Carlton, Sarasota (Florida); Farm Links Golf Club (Alabama); Renaissance Golf Club (Massachusetts); TPC Valencia (California); and Tulsa Country Club (Oklahoma); multiple projects with Troon Golf; Apes Hill Club (Barbados); and The Abaco Club (Bahamas).
