Sir Nick Faldo’s global junior development effort, the Faldo Series, which hosts events in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South America, will now partner with the IJGT to bring opportunities for junior golfers in the United States to compete in the Faldo Series.
Winners of the first ever US Grand Final in November at the Bella Collina Club in Monte Verde, Florida will qualify for Faldo Series Europe Grand Final.
Launched in 1996, The Faldo Series is recognized globally for providing opportunity through golf and developing tomorrow’s champions.
The two established junior golf tours (IJGT and Faldo Series) have been included on the journey of some of the most promising young players around the world. Through this partnership, the Faldo Series will now be available to elite junior golfers in the US through the International Junior Golf Tour.
Rory McIlroy and Yani Tseng are two Faldo Series alumni who rose through the professional ranks to reach world #1.
Andrew Summers, IJGT CEO and owner, shares his enthusiasm for the partnership, “Over the past few years, we have seen golf at the most competitive level becoming more and more international. At IJGT, we strive to provide the kind of tournaments that prepare junior golfers to move on to the next level and compete on bigger stages.
“By bringing the Faldo Series to the U.S., our players will have the opportunity to challenge themselves against not only the best junior golfers in their region, but the entire world. We are passionate about the growth of junior golf across the globe and excited to present this new addition to our tour.”
Faldo added: “My vision is for junior golf at the highest level to shadow the professional tours with global competition. I also expect these young players will inspire new golfers around the world to try our great game. Thanks to IJGT and the International Junior Golf Academy (IJGA) for their ongoing support and for opening the door to American players to be included in our global competition.”
