Manchester’s Worsley Park Marriott Hotel & Country Club has once again shone at the annual 59club golf awards which celebrate excellence within the industry, winning not one, but two prestigious awards in the Golf Manager of the Year and Greenkeeper of the Year categories.

The 59club awards are run by a leading independent body that monitor the golf industry and rewards excellence. It was director of golf Adam Moule, and course manager Ian Brawn who both walked away with the silverware after yet another exceptional season at Worsley Park having further developed its championship course and golf offering.

The success at this year’s awards further cements Worsley Park as one of the best courses in the North West and follows previous industry recognition from the 59club for the team’s retail experience in 2012.

Worsley Park’s director of golf, Adam Moule, was recognised for his outstanding contribution to the experience of all users of the golf facilities. Over the past year, the judges assessed the product and service available on a number of occasions and noted the immaculate golfing experience for members and guests from the moment they arrive, to the moment they leave. He added; “It’s such an honour to be nominated, let alone win. When they read my name out, it came as a complete surprise. We work hard to create the best possible golfing experience here at Worsley Park, which is testament to the whole team with whom I will gladly share this award.”

Ian Brawn has spent over 12 years with Marriott, however only joined Worsley Park as course manager 18 months ago. Since his arrival, the course has gone from strength-to-strength. The award was unanimously given to Ian for his steadfast efforts in maintaining a pristine course and ongoing subtle course development.

“It’s a wonderful course to both work with and play around,” said Ian. “But as course manager it has its challenges with deep bunkers, undulating greens, and stunning water hazards. It’s been a pleasure to take on the mantle of maintaining this wonderful course, which I hope to do for many years to come.”

On the night, the Marriott Group also collected awards for individual and team sales performances and retail along with silver and gold flag award status.

“The golf team here at Worsley Park work incredibly hard to deliver some of the best golf in the region, if not the UK. Without such a passionate and dedicated golf team behind us, none of this recognition would be possible,” added Adam Moule.

The championship golf facilities at Worsley Park are nestled in an idyllic leafy setting just seconds away from direct transport links into Manchester and the surrounding area.

Alongside the golf course is a 158 hotel bed room hotel, nine meeting and conference rooms, a restaurant, the Chimney Bar & Lounge, the Tempo leisure and golf club house, extensive leisure facilitates and a health & beauty spa. For more information, visit WorsleyParkGolf.co.uk
