In a move designed to build on the initiative to grow golf tourism in the county, Visit Lincolnshire has announced the appointment of specialist golf media agency, Golf Marketing Services, to handle the on-going PR communications and marketing activity on its behalf.
In conjunction with Visit Lincolnshire, GMS plans to work on an intensive campaign that highlights both the undiscovered gems of the Lincolnshire golfing scene and their better-known neighbours such as Woodhall Spa, Forest Pines and De Vere Belton Woods. With Forest Pines launching its own bid to host the Solheim Cup in 2015, it promises to be an exciting time for the region.
In addition to Lincolnshire being the home of the English Golf Union, the county is also the base for leading equipment manufacturer, PING, and the Gainsborough-based company is already playing a major role in attracting hundreds of golfers to Lincolnshire every month, both to Gainsborough Golf Club which the company owns and to its unique custom-fitting centre situated at the club.
Commenting on the appointment Emma Tatlow, Deputy Chief Executive and Head of Marketing for Visit Lincolnshire said: “We are very pleased to have appointed GMS to help us with our golf campaign. They have great experience in developing campaigns for resorts and regions and we feel sure that with their assistance we can really put Lincolnshire on the golfing map. We aim to show to our supporting partners that we can attract a considerable number of golfers from right across the UK.”
GMS Director, Neil Gray, added: “We are very familiar with Lincolnshire as a golfing region having worked with PING for over 10 years and believe golfers will be surprised when we start to highlight exactly what the county has to offer.
“The simple fact is that Lincolnshire has a lot of fine courses, all offering a warm welcome and great value for money, and we very much look forward to working with Visit Lincolnshire and its partners to get that message across.”
Lincolnshire’s Golf campaign is supported by East Midlands tourism, Lincolnshire County Council and local authorities from across the county plus a selection of Lincolnshire’s golf courses
