Travel industry embraces Algarve’s ‘free golf bag’ campaign

2.54pm 30th October 2020 - Travel

The launch of the Algarve’s innovative “Golf Clubs Are on Us” campaign has seen golf tour operators from across Europe queuing-up to partner with the sunshine destination.

The same travel businesses that voted the Algarve the World’s Best Golf Destination last year have been rushing to get on board with the offer of free golf club carriage for their customers between November and April next year, with tour operators in the UK, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Austria and The Netherlands already signing agreements.

The first lucky golfers will fly out this Sunday, November 1, having saved up to €100 each on their flight to Faro, thanks to the Algarve picking up the bill for their golf club carriage.

The free golf bag offer is applied to bookings made with a licensed golf tour operator for a minimum five-night stay between November and the end of April 2021, with bookings having to be confirmed by December 31, 2020.

And the Algarve is appealing to any potential tour operator partners not yet signed up, to hurry up as the “gate is closing” to secure agreements, with a spokesperson for Algarve Tourism commenting: “We have experienced huge support from the trade and have had so many positive conversations on the back of the launch last week. If you are a licensed golf tour operator wanting to kick-start your winter and spring business, please get in touch.”

Visitors will feel safe in the knowledge that the Algarve has extensive precautions implemented, with hotels and courses having Clean & Safe certification, which has been introduced by Portugal Tourism in recent times.
