Oceânico’s Victoria course, designed by legend of the game Arnold Palmer, has been awarded “Best Golf Course in Portugal” during the Publituris Tourism Annual Gala Awards Ceremony, held in Lisbon.
This is the third consecutive year the host venue of the Portugal Masters has been celebrated as the firm favourite in the competitive Portugal golf course market.
Organised by the oldest professional tourism publication in Portugal, the Publituris awards are considered a huge honour. Winners from 30 categories, involving more than 180 companies or entities were announced in a tourism gala held Thursday evening at the historic St Jorge‘s Castle in Lisbon.
The selection of the nominees follows several criteria, such as pro-activity in communication, innovation and professionalism, based on an analysis of news published in 2008 by Publituris and other tourism publications.
One of seven Oceânico courses, the Victoria course is an intergral part of the Oceânico Group and is a flagship property of the extensive portfolio. The course has held some significant events over the years, including the 2005 World Cup of Golf and has established itself as the preferred host venue for the European Tour’s Portugal Masters.
“This is a great achievement for all involved. Any time you win an award with such recognition it is cause to be proud. To repeat such an acheivement is fantastic, but to do it three year’s running is truly unique. There is a lot of hard work and effort that goes into maintaing the Victoria course. As with all our courses the hard work and expertise of Troon Golf have combined to create what can be regarded as an iconic golf course in Portugal” commented Chris Stillwell, CEO Oceânico Golf.
Oceânico has created a magnificent golf property portfolio in the Algarve. With the very latest development at Amendoeira nearing its first full year of operation, the future looks bright as golfers from around Europe continue to enjoy the quality of golf course and unrivalled level of service.
