South African golf promotion

Two major South African companies are promoting their golf facilities using a competition run by ‘The Sunday Times‘

Sun International and South African Airways are among the four prominent partners for The Sunday Times PLAYONTOUR™ – a new amateur golf tournament with an innovative fantasy dimension which allows amateur golfers the opportunity to compete against the professionals and feel the pressures of playing European Tour golf.

The top 50 money winners in the PLAYONTOUR order of merit will receive a fabulous prize. South African Airways and Sun International have joined forces to fly them out to Sun City resort, South Africa, where they will compete in a two day golf tournament to discover the The Sunday Times 2001 PLAYONTOUR Champion.

Alastair Roper, tournament director of the Nedbank Golf Challenge, believes that Sun International “has a great deal to offer to the British public in the way of luxury golf resorts in South Africa. What better way to showcase ourselves than to host the PLAYONTOUR Grand Final at Sun City, the diamond in our crown of resorts?”

The other sponsors of the competition are Today’s Golfer and Maxfli, part of the Dunlop Slazenger Group
