The impressive Son Gual golf club – Mallorca’s finest golfing address – is celebrating after being confirmed as only the third European member venue of the coveted IMG Prestige programme.
Built at a cost of €30m and situated just outside of the island’s thriving capital Palma, Golf Son Gual has created a strong reputation among the golfing cognoscenti for maintaining the highest of standards, both on and off the course.
It now sits in the IMG Prestige programme alongside some of the world’s most exalted golf venues including Kingsbarns, Scotland; La Manga Club, Spain; Cape Kidnappers, New Zealand; Yas Links, United Arab Emirates; and Legend Golf & Safari Resort, South Africa.
IMG Prestige is a global reciprocal programme which brings together the finest golf facilities in the world and provides their members privileged access to other participating venues.
Neil Coulson, IMG Golf Course Services’ director of operations, said: “Since opening, Son Gual Golf Club has gained a reputation for offering an exceptional golf experience. We are delighted to welcome the club to the IMG Prestige programme and extending the privileged access offered by the other participating clubs to their members.”
Andreas Pamer, general manager of Son Gual commented: “Our philosophy has always been to give our members and visitors the best possible golfing experience and attentive hospitality and we now look forward to providing members of other IMG Prestige clubs with a guaranteed quality experience in Mallorca.
“By the same token, our well-travelled patrons will de delighted to have the opportunity to sample some of the other members’ venues when visiting destinations around the world.”
Golf Son Gual has been lavished with praise since opening in October 2007. Golf World magazine recently ranked Son Gual in its prestigious top 100 European courses, saying it was “…one of the more spectacular courses in the Mediterranean region”, while former Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam compared the greens to those at Augusta National.
