A record performance in 2010 has seen Your Golf Travel.com establish itself with a claim to have become the largest golf travel company in Europe.
Following hot on the heels of achieving a sixth-placed ranking in The Sunday Times Virgin 2010 Fast Track 100 guide – an acknowledgment as one of the UK’s fastest-growing businesses for its 2009 performance – the dynamic London-based outfit has announced 2010 figures revealing not only has it catered for more passengers than its nearest rivals but the company also enjoyed higher gross sales.
Your Golf Travel.com’s passenger numbers rose exponentially during 2010, with gross sales improving by 70 per cent to £28m while the operator provided package holidays and tee-time bookings to more than 152,000 golfers across the year.
This included high demand across the domestic, European and long-haul sectors, including significant growth in travellers to England, Ireland, Spain, France, Turkey, Tunisia, Mauritius and South Africa.
There was also a notable upward trend in demand for high-end hospitality packages to prestigious events such as The Ryder Cup and The Masters.
Commenting on a record year of trading, Your Golf Travel.com’s director of product Andrew Smith said: “These results portray a ringing endorsement of our core principles, which are to provide UK golfers with the widest choice of golfing venues in the world at the most affordable prices.
“In 2011 we will continue to increase the quality and reach of our product range, particularly within the mid and long-haul golf holiday markets, whilst at the same time ensuring that business with our key partners continues to grow.
The company’s chief executive Ross Marshall added: “We appreciate that the UK is experiencing tough economic times and we are working harder than ever to pass on further savings to the UK golfing public.
“We see these efforts being reflected in continued growth through 2011 where we predict sales will rise by a further 40 per cent.”
The Palatinate Leisure Group – Your Golf Travel.com’s parent company – saw total group turnover rise to £35m in 2010, buoyed by a strong performance from Spabreaks.com and encouraging sales from the recently launched FairwaytoFurlong.com, a niche concept that combines golf and horseracing breaks at the UK’s premier meetings.
And the group has plans to launch additional exciting new travel, leisure and lifestyle brands during 2011.
