Quinta do Lago has enjoyed another record-breaking season in 2023, surpassing 2022’s record numbers after witnessing a significant growth in green fee bookings.
The Portuguese sports and lifestyle resort, which is home to three 18-hole championship golf courses – the North, South and Laranjal – reported an increase of 13 per cent in rounds played.
Of those golfers visiting the Algarve resort this year, 70 per cent came from the UK and 10 per cent from Germany, with Ireland, Portugal and Belgium making up the majority of the remaining numbers.
Quinta do Lago enjoyed a busy 2023 and hosted a number of events and competitions throughout, including sporting camps throughout the year for kids and the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship.
In April, youngsters were given an opportunity to learn from their sporting heroes when rugby union legend Brian O’Driscoll and former England footballer Gareth Barry teamed up with experienced coaches to lead a series of youth training camps.
Tennis and dance sessions were also well attended, with The Campus – the resort’s state-of-the-art performance and wellness centre, which is regularly used by professional athletes – proving to be the perfect place to host the range of activities.
Young golfers attending the golf camp were also given access to the world’s only Paul McGinley Academy for an action-packed week.
In November, the resort welcomed 24 of the finest elite junior golfers from Europe for the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship, sponsored for the fourth time by the former US Open champion.
Winners Annabel Peaford and Morton Bailey joined an illustrious list of previous champions, which includes Rose, his European Ryder Cup-winning colleagues Tommy Fleetwood and Matt Fitzpatrick, as well as Ladies European Tour stars Jodi Ewart Shadoff, Melissa Reid and Carly Booth.
The end of the year also saw Quinta do Logo claim three major honours at the prestigious 2023 World Golf Awards. As well as being named ‘Europe’s Best Golf Venue‘, the acclaimed South Course was once again recognised as ‘Europe’s Best Golf Course’ and ‘Portugal’s Best Golf Course’.
Sean Moriarty, CEO of Quinta do Lago, said: “Once again, it’s been a busy 12 months for everyone here, but we wouldn’t have it any other way. There’s a lot more to look forward to next year, across all areas of the business, and we look forward to welcoming return guests and new faces, including those from other emerging markets such as France, Italy and the United States.”
