Promoting golf in South East England

8.23am 7th August 2008 - Travel

Tourism South East (TSE) and the South East England Development Agency (SEEDA) have developed a number of initiatives to promote golf in the South East to golf tourists from other parts of the UK and northern Europe.

TSE have received local government funding to develop golf in their region, which stretches from Kent to Oxfordshire.

This results from research showing that there has been growth in tourist golfers coming to the south east of England but that many of the 536 golf clubs and driving ranges in that area are ill equipped to maximise this potential.

TSE’s “Guide to Golf 2008” is set to reach 100,000 golfers over 12 months and inclusion is open to all golf courses, clubs and driving ranges in the region. It is not restricted to EGU members. The Guide will be launched in September so

The initiative from TSE and SEEDA has a two pronged approach. In addition to the Guide there will be initiatives designed to help clubs develop commercial and marketing skills based upon a scheme with workshops and networking seminars. Further details will be announced soon.
