PGA Catalunya Resort, near Barcelona, is on the cusp of further success after being nominated in the inaugural World Golf Awards 2014.
The European Tour Destination, which hosted The 2014 Open de España and was recently crowned No.1 Golf Course in Spain by influential rankings website, Top100GolfCourses.co.uk, has been automatically nominated for the ‘Spain’s Best Course 2014’ category, thanks to its high position within Golf World magazine’s latest World and Continental European Top 100 Golf Course listings.
The World Golf Awards is part of the World Travel Awards (WTA), which was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all sectors of the tourism industry. Today, the WTA brand is recognised globally as the ultimate hallmark of quality, and has been dubbed ‘the Oscars of the travel industry’.
“The World Golf Awards has been created in response to a demand from the golf industry for a fair and transparent programme that would celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism, as well as recognise world-class courses & golf destinations,” explained Chris Frost, Managing Director, World Golf Awards.

The inaugural World Golf Awards will focus on the leading 130 nations that are shaping the future of this dynamic industry.
Winners of national categories will be go head-to-head to determine regional winners that will automatically be entered into the ultimate draw, which will take place on November 15 and unveil the winner of the ‘Best Golf Course in the World’.

The World Golf Awards 2014 ceremony will take place at the Conrad Algarve, Portugal, from November 13-16th, 2014, where guests will be able to participate in the World Golf Classic Golf Competition which will be played on the newly renovated Quinta do Lago North Course on Saturday, November 15th, before being treated to a gala dinner.
