The Lockhart Travel Club is named after Robert Lockhart, a Scotsman living in New York City traveling back and forth between the two in the late 1800’s as a linen merchant. On one fateful crossing in 1887 he brought back with him a box of golf clubs, purchased from Old Tom Morris himself.
Lockhart proceeded to introduce his curious friends to the funny hooked sticks and thus the American golfing spark was ignited, solidifying an indelible link between the old and new worlds of this game we all love.
Co-Founder David Davis said, “We are delighted to launch the Lockhart Travel Club. Our collective travelling adventures have taught us one thing above all else. You can be at any of the greatest courses in the world, but it’s the people that define the experience. Be that the staff, playing companions, or host.
Lockhart members represent some of the world’s greatest clubs and have many things in common. To that end, the Founding Members look forward to inviting avid traveling golfers who share our values of tradition, respect, and sense of adventure. Our focus will always be to deliver fun events at storied locations; experiences that combine the very best of golf with those added extras and attention to detail that elevate the trips to that next level.
The club has also made a significant hire as General Manager. David went on to say, “We welcome Niall Flanagan as our General Manager. Niall has extensive experience within the golf industry, having been CEO at Loch Lomond Golf Club and held senior positions at St Andrews Links Trust, Castiglion del Bosco, Dubai Golf & Country Club. He has travelled extensively and has an amazing black book of contacts.
Niall Flanagan said, “I am delighted to become the first Lockhart Travel Club General Manager. The vision of the Founders is one of community, tradition, and incredible experiences. They have a limitless passion for golf travel, so our combined skills and contacts will only build upon the incredible events schedule already in place.
