New direct flights from Dubai to Danang set boost Vietnam golf tourism

1.46pm 15th April 2025 - Travel

The Vietnam Golf Coast is bolstering its global connections as a world-leading golf tourism destination with the announcement of a major new air route connecting Danang with Dubai via Emirates Airlines.

Dubai International Airport, renowned as one of the world’s most connected airports, offers passengers seamless access to more than 260 destinations across six continents.

The introduction of four weekly direct flights between Dubai and Danang, beginning June 2, represents a transformative moment for Central Vietnam, complementing Vietnam Airlines’ resumption of service between Danang and Osaka, Japan, from July 3, with four flights per week. The flying time between Dubai and Danang is 9 hours 50 minutes.

Other new and resumed connections linking Central Vietnam with the world are also ramping up. Vietnam Airlines resumed direct flights from Bangkok on March 30, operating four times weekly.

Additionally, Air Premia began services between Seoul and Danang in January, Myanmar Airways International will launch flights between Yangon and Danang in April, Aero K introduced a Cheongju-Danang route in February last year, and Air Astana will start operations from Almaty, Kazakhstan on June 4.

These recent developments underline Danang International Airport’s ongoing growth, cementing its role as a vital gateway for golfers and travellers from key markets including Japan, Korea, China, India, Thailand, Taiwan, Cambodia, Laos, Singapore, Hong Kong, Macau, and Malaysia.

“Connecting Central Vietnam directly to Dubai is a game-changer,” said Stephen Banks, Director of Golf at Laguna Golf Lang Co, where a Sir Nick Faldo Signature design threads rice paddies between emerald mountains and pounding ocean. “Golfers and tourists alike will now have unprecedented global access to our world-class golf and luxury resorts, significantly broadening our international appeal.”

“Improved connectivity, particularly with Emirates via Dubai, elevates the profile of Central Vietnam as a golfing destination to new heights,” added Simon Mees, General Manager at Ba Na Hills Golf Club, another of the region’s signature clubs and a fulcrum of the VGC destination marketing effort. “We’re excited to welcome players from around the world to our Luke Donald-designed championship course and introduce them to the region’s extraordinary experiences.”

With outstanding golf facilities, pristine beaches, and luxury accommodations, the region attracts increasing international attention.

“The Emirates connection is significant, opening up access not just to Europe and North America but globally,” said Le Vo Hoang Van, Club Manager at Montgomerie Links, where European legend Colin Montgomerie has designed a fast-running links-style challenge. “This marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to showcase Central Vietnam as one of Asia’s most attractive golf destinations.”
