A new luxury six-night golf deal from one of Mallorca’s leading boutique hotels includes tee-times at three of the holiday island’s top courses: Son Gual, Alcanada and Son Muntaner.

Only a few minutes from the bustling resort of Palma, the tranquil Hotel Son Julia is a stunning country hotel situated in an exquisite 15th century Mallorcan manor house. The charming, 25-room ‘finca’ hotel opened in 2006 and overlooks splendid, lush countryside. It offers fine Mediterranean cuisine, spa and wellness therapies, and beautiful, 300-year-old gardens, with an inviting terrace and patio.

This unique hotel pairs Mallorcan style and serenity with modern design and state-of-the-art facilities. The spacious rooms are elegantly furnished yet retain period aspects of its 500-year-old heritage.

Son Julia’s golfers’ package includes six nights’ B&B accommodation in room or suite; three dinners at the hotel’s renowned restaurant; six days’ car rental (VW Polo or similar); one green fee per person at each of Son Gual, Club de Golf Alcanada and Son Muntaner; two special, 30-minute, golfer’s shoulder and neck massages, per person; and one hour-long full body massage per person.

Prices, based on two people sharing, start at €1,435 (inc VAT) for a superior room.

The €30m Son Gual golf course opened in 2007 and features large lakes, 66 bunkers, 800 olive trees – some over a thousand years old – wild flowers in the rough areas and vineyards in several areas around the course. Just four years after Golf Son Gual opened, it was recognised by Golf World magazine as the number one on the island and ninth best in Spain.

In May 2009 it hosted the Mallorca Senior Open and received gushing praise from a number of the participants: former Ryder Cup captain Ian Woosnam even compared the greens to those at Augusta National.

The 1991 Masters winner said: “It’s a bit like Augusta. There are a lot of slopes on the greens. You’ve got to get the ball on the right side of the hole – if you don’t you’ll be struggling. Miss it on the wrong side and you’re dead.”

Club de Golf Alcanada was last year voted the best golf course in Europe by German golf magazine Golf Journal – for the fourth successive year – and by the users of the top German website www.1golf.eu for the second year in a row. It also swept the board in the recent annual customer satisfaction survey carried out by Mallorcan golf holiday specialist Simply Mallorca Golf.

Situated in the north region of Mallorca in a breathtaking location overlooking the Bay of Alcudia, Alcanada’s 18-hole championship course was designed by award-winning golf architect Robert Trent Jones Jnr and celebrates its 10th birthday this year.

Son Muntaner, which forms part of the Arabella resort, nestles between the hills of Son Vida and Palma, and boasts Mallorca’s oldest olive tree, Sa Capitana, which is said to be 1,000 years old.
