The Costa Daurada and LUMINE Mediterránea Beach & Golf Community, arguable Europe’s hottest new golf destination is preparing to welcome a wave of UK golf visitors following productive meetings with UK trade representatives during this year’s IGTM. The host venue had further cause for celebration as organisers pinpointed the resort’s amenities, quality and hospitality as key drivers for the shows record-breaking attendance figures.
“This has been the best IGTM ever at a golf destination relatively unknown until this week. The vision and commitment at LUMINE Golf & Beach Club has been integral to the delivery of this event,” commented Exhibition Manager Reed Travel Exhibitions, Peter Grimster. following a spectacular gala-dinner to conclude the 16th IGTM.
Whilst Lumine has seen impressive inbound numbers year on year, from the likes of France, Denmark, Holland as well as Sweden, the general consensus is the UK market will be next to embrace the Lumine GOLF & Beach Club experience.
Calle Carlsson, General Manager, LUMINE Golf & Beach Club said: “As we expected, the IGTM has been a resounding success and the feedback has been unanimous for Lumine. Our value proposition has been striking the right chord in many major markets in Europe and we are beginning to see guests come from further afield. The UK is a market where we believe we will see the next significant increase, given the discussions we have been engaged in this week.”
As home to the 2013 premier golf travel show, Costa Daurada and the Troon managed resort afforded themselves the opportunity to showcase their rich leisure, cultural and historical attractions. The 4,000 person capacity PortAventura Convention Centre hosted official proceedings during the show, whilst the region’s contemporary accommodation, PortAventura Theme Park, Championship golf courses and Mediterranean cuisine were featured in the event’s extra-curricular activities.
“The man of the moment, Calle Carlsson, and his team have done a tremendous job this week with the support of Costa Daurada, Catalunya and Turespaña. I have no doubt that the seamless organisation of the largest golf tourism event in history will lead directly to a dramatic and immediate increase in golf travel to the region,” commented IAGTO Chief Executive Peter Walton.
The Costa Daurada region is emerging as one of golf’s most diverse destinations, spearheaded by LUMINE Golf & Beach Club’s escalating popularity amongst discerning travellers. Totalling a record 400 rounds in one day earlier this year, the Troon-managed resort demonstrated its status as one of Europe’s leading resorts through the event, hosting a hugely successful pre-IGTM golf tournament and post-IGTM media day.
The 2013 IGTM welcomed 1,400 delegates–the highest in the event’s history.
