Amateur golfers from across Europe are being given the opportunity to represent their country in the Nations Cup. It is just one of the highlights on offer to golfers at next year’s Lisbon Golf Coast Festival, to take place from 29th April to 6th May 2007.
Now in its fifth year, the festival has become the favourite golf holiday for international players of all abilities. The tournament takes place on some of the best courses in Europe and coupled with a full and exciting social scene, it fully justifies the motto “Serious Fun”.
Each round is played on championship courses, which will certainly live up to every golfer’s expectations, with both Penha Longa and Aroeira having hosted the Portuguese Open. Add to these the Rocky Roquemore masterpiece at Belas and the stunning course at Ribagolfe, it is an exciting programme of golf.
A different format is played each day including team, pairs and individual competitions. Furthermore, each time the players take to the course, they will be representing their country. The Nations Cup is one of the most popular aspects of the week generating camaraderie between players and a friendly rivalry between nations. The best scores from each nation each day are counted and the nation with the best score over the four rounds wins.
Players not only enjoy the thrill of playing on fine courses with golfers from all over Europe, but they also that the chance to relax in good company in the evenings at the parties and dinners. In their free time they can take in the exciting city of Lisbon, enjoy the ambience of the restaurants and bars and shop for bargains in the fine shopping centres.
Players in the past have come from over 15 different countries including England, Ireland, Germany, France, Finland, Belgium, South Africa, Holland, Switzerland, Spain and Portugal.
The festival already has the backing of International car rental company Europcar, Portuguese hotel chain Tivoli, wine producers Quinta da Sanguinhal, telecommunication companies Crocker, Radiotrans and Motorola as well as Nevada Bobs, one of Europe’s biggest golf retailers.
Packages including accommodation, transfers, tournament entry and all social functions are available from £749 / Euro 1089 for 7 days and from £345 / Euro 499 for 3 days. Tournament entry only is also available from £195 / Euro 285. A free place is given groups of ten players.
