Following last year’s successful promotion hotels and golf courses in the Kingdom of Fife have again launched a ‘Ladies First’ promotion. The project being co-ordinated by the Fife Golf Tourism Initiative which is a partnership between Scottish Enterprise Fife, The Kingdom of Fife Tourist Board and tourism businesses.
In the UK it is rare for otherwise independent golf courses to combine together for promotional purposes but in this promotion are ten golf courses including the Scottish National Golf Centre which has an indoor practice area complete with two bunkers and a water hazard. All the courses, which include historic championship links, established parkland courses and some of Scotland’s newest fairways, extend a particular welcome to visiting lady golfers.
When it comes to places to stay all of the accommodation is peacefully situated in lovely countryside or small villages. There is a choice between full board and self-catering.
“These holidays offer exactly the kind of accommodation, facilities and golf that ladies are looking for,” said Grizelda Cowan, PR executive for Kingdom of Fife Tourist Board. “We are confident that lady golfers from all over the UK and from overseas will want to make Fife their first choice for a perfect golfing holiday tailored to their needs.”
“By extending a special welcome to lady golfers, we hope to show them that Fife is the perfect venue for their golfing holidays,” said Sheila Briggs of The Old Station Country House by St Andrews. “Although we always welcome golfers of both sexes we do feel that the lady golfers’ particular needs are sometimes overlooked. We intend to redress this balance.”
