The Kulm Hotel St Moritz (www.kulm.com) is hoping to nurture the next generation of golfers by offering free golf lessons and etiquette golf classes for all its young guests up to the age of 12 years every Tuesday and Thursday morning from now until mid-September, when the hotel’s summer season comes to a close.

The hotel’s desire to encourage young golfers stems from a long association with golf: the Engadine, where the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz is located, is known as “The Golf Centre of the Alps” thanks, in part, to the creation of the hotel’s own 9-hole golf course in 1891, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Switzerland – and one of the highest in Europe at an altitude of almost 2000 metres.

As a result, the Kulm Hotel already has a loyal golf following and is keen to encourage the children of golfing guests to follow in their footsteps along the fairway, thereby eliminate the possibility of creating a generation of golfing orphans!

On arrival in St Moritz, the whole family will be invited to attend the daily 5pm familiarization tour of the Kulm St Moritz Golf facility with resident golf professional, Bart Davej, who will guide them around the hotel’s course, sharing his insight and passion for the course’s unique layout, which, with its nine par-3 holes set out over an undulating terrain, through trees, with stunning views of the majestic Alps, is challenging but not intimidating to golfers of any age or ability.

For the duration of their stay, adult guests have complimentary green fees over the Kulm Golf course and are welcome to participate in the weekly golf tournament, held every Wednesday morning, at no extra charge (only open to those with a maximum handicap of 36). Adults may also wish to take part in a green keeper’s workshop.

Adult golfers are also entitled to a 50% discount on the green fees at the nearby 18-hole courses of Samedan and Zuoz, and will receive welcome gifts of golf balls and golf towels, as well as an invigorating sports massage in the state-of-the-art Kulm Spa St. Moritz after the rigours of the golf course.

To make life easier for families, the Kulm Hotel has interconnecting rooms for children at 50% less than the standard rate; there is also a chance to feast on the Kulm Hotel’s Vital menu, which offers healthy options for the whole family during their holiday.

Summer rates at the Kulm Hotel St. Moritz start from CHF535 (approx £370/Euros 509) for two people sharing a double room on a half-board basis and includes unlimited access to the Kulm Spa St. Moritz, the 9-hole golf course, driving range and tennis courts.
