International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), the world’s premier global event for golf tourism suppliers, buyers and media, expects record business to be generated following enhancements to the pre-scheduled appointment setting system.
Reed Travel Exhibitions has implemented the system, via which buyers and exhibitors can state those with whom they are most keen to meet, at the event to be staged in the Algarve, Portugal from today until Thursday.
The maximum number of preferences each person can state has been increased this year from 37 to 50 and the number of potential appointment slots allocated to each exhibitor has risen from 37 to 41.
Peter Grimster, Exhibition Manager at Reed Travel Exhibitions, said: “This revamped system has resulted in the highest ever number of appointments – 11,500 – which represents an overall increase of 15%.
“Together with an increased number of appointment slots, a revised preference system and more time to make them, there is a healthy increase in the average number of scheduled appointments per exhibitor. This means IGTM 2012 can expect record numbers of meetings to be conducted this year.”
Peter Grimster added: “We are continually looking for ways to innovate and enhance business and networking opportunities during IGTM and strive to provide a forum within which businesses can successfully develop and grow.”
The unique pre-scheduled appointment system will enable more than 350 golf tour operators and 450 exhibitors (golf destinations and resorts) to meet and conduct business. This translates to one of the strongest ratios of exhibitors to buyers the event has ever seen.
This year, IGTM is being staged in the Algarve, Portugal– one of Europe’s most established golf destinations and several times voted the World’s Best Golfing Destination by IAGTO (International Association of Golf Tour Operators).
This is the 15th edition of IGTM and each year the event brings together the world’s leading golf tourism suppliers and pre-qualified buyers, as well as media from around the globe for four days of pre-scheduled appointments, networking opportunities and industry updates.
The event will conclude with the prestigious IAGTO awards, where the leading golf destinations from the world’s major regions will be honoured, along with the top golf resorts and suppliers.
