The idea is simple but brilliant: overnight lodging on ‘green playgrounds’. In 2011 hotels in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, all located on golf courses, joined forces for a new marketing cooperation. To date 25 hotels in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and only recently Italy (South Tyrol) are members of the constantly growing group “Hotels auf dem Golfplatz“ (Hotels on the Golf Course).
In 2015 Hotels auf dem Golfplatz welcomes three new members: Heitlinger Hof in Östringen-Tiefenbach (Baden Württemberg, Germany), Park Hotel Meisdorf in Meisdorf (Saxony-Anhalt, Germany) and Andreus Golf & Spa Resort in St. Leonhard near Meran (South Tyrol, Italy).
The German national football (soccer) team prepared successfully at the 5-Star Andreus Golf & Spa Resort for the World Cup in Brazil.
To become a member of this select group, hotels have to fulfil strict criteria: The hotels must not be located more than a par-4-hole (max. 470 yards or 430 metres) from the first tee of the golf course. The course must be rated according to The International Golf Stars Classification with at least four stars and hotels must all fall into the category First Class. Therefore any travelling golfer can trust that he or she will experience a vacation in a new dimension“.
In 2015 Hotels auf dem Golfplatz will also be organizing their successful Golf Trophy: a series of amateur tournaments for their guests. In 2015 a total of 19 tournaments on 19 different golf courses will be played over a broad regional spectrum from the North of Germany and the coast of the Baltic Sea all the way down through many regions of Germany into Bavaria and Austria up to the final tournament at Dolomiten Hotel & Spa in Austria on October 17, 2015. The series will start at Andreus Golf & Spa Resort in South Tyrol in Italy on April 11, 2015.
