Professionals and amateurs across Europe are being urged to move fast to sign up to the newest event on the PGAs of Europe’s 2014 calendar – the 1st La Manga Club International Pro-Am.
The new co-sanctioned event, announced only a few weeks ago after the PGAs of Europe renewed its association with La Manga Club, has already received entries for 65 per cent of the available places.
Golfers from all over the continent including Germany, Holland, Spain and the UK have flocked to secure enter the tournament, which will be held at Spain’s La Manga Club from March 7-11, 2014.
Gary Silcock, director of golf at La Manga Club, said: “La Manga Club is renowned for being a leader in golf destinations across Europe and beyond. The response we’ve had has been fantastic and proves that the resort’s appeal to golfers, both pros and amateurs alike, remains stronger than ever.
“We’ve been inundated by people interested in taking part and sponsors are coming forward all the time. There is still an opportunity for a main sponsor to be involved and the event will provide a further chance for us to demonstrate why La Manga Club is still Europe’s premier golf and leisure destination.”
The event will see 30 teams from across the continent – made up of one professional and three amateurs – gather at the five-star resort to contest an overall prize fund in excess of €20,000(based on 20 teams).
Participants will compete over 54 holes on the resort’s acclaimed South and West courses for an array of individual and team honours, with packages costing €2,400 per team (professionals go free) including tournament entry, one practice round and practice balls each day.
In addition, the packages – which are based on two people sharing a room – feature four nights’ five-star bed and breakfast hotel accommodation and a number of other benefits at the award-winning resort.
The pro-am will provide a fitting climax to a busy winter period for La Manga Club which will see it open a new LeadbetterGolfAcademy in January – the only such facility in mainland Spain – and stage the 2014 Spanish Seniors International Amateur Championship a month later.
