Golfers back to the USA

11.00am 17th June 2002 - Travel

Golfers are returning to the USA again. The specialist tour operator Serenity Golf says that for the first time in over two years more people are booking the USA than Portugal. In the last six weeks USA bookings have increased dramatically.

Serenity Golf’s manager, Elaine Mayston, says, “For the last couple of years bookings to Portugal have outweighed those to the USA, often by over 20 times. We anticipated that America would pick up again this year but we never thought it would happen quite so quickly.”

The operator has launched its ‘best ever value’ Myrtle Beach package which is proving ‘a huge success’. Since the beginning of May bookings to America are over 80% higher than those to Portugal.

The deal which is proving so popular is a week in Myrtle Beach, the golfers’ paradise, which includes two rounds of golf on the excellent Wild Wing courses, 7 nights bed & breakfast accommodation at the Hampton Inn 76th, return flights from Gatwick to Raleigh, Durham, full-size car-hire, taxes and resort representation and costs from £489.
