Golf Tourism England (GTE) unveiled what is set to be the first of a series of videos designed to capture the imagination of the golf travel trade and golf enthusiasts around the world. Part of the Association’s strategy has been to create a series of clusters that bring together some of the nations’ finest golf experiences. The first video gives viewers a taste of things to come, with a unique portrayal at some of the country’s most stunning golf courses. The video release comes hot on the heels of GTE’s announcement as one of a number of successful projects to receive funding from the £40 million Discover England Fund. The Fund is administered by VisitEngland and will see GTE work together on a programme of activity to ensure that England stays competitive in the rapidly growing global tourism industry.
“We are focussed on developing England’s golf product in order to successfully integrate it into the golf travel trade framework,” commented Matt Selby, Director of Operations Golf Tourism England. “In order to successfully do so, we have embarked on an educational and promotional drive that will position the product in the minds of both the trade and consumers alike. What is clear is the quality and how distinct golf in England is and by shooting a fresh new outlook, we feel we can inspire and excite the market place.”
The video footage was released at the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM), an annual conference that brings together the leading golf tour operators and golf destinations. During a seminar, hosted by the GTE team, the video was shown for the first time to attendees, who gathered to find out more about the progress GTE has made with its new Visit England Partnership.
“This is a key week for GTE,” commented Andrew Cooke, CEO Golf Tourism England. “We have built up great relations with the trade and have united England’s golf stakeholders, which will act as a powerful economic stimulus. We are in the process of connecting our cluster experiences with the trade and are enjoying the positive reaction we are getting across the board.”
The video captures what makes golf in England so great and showcases some of the country’s most stunning golf courses.
GTE has embarked upon amplifying the cluster appeal for many of England’s established golfing regions. The strategy is clear; cumulative attraction will unlock cumulative gains. By bringing together regions, connecting key supplier partners and providing a distinct marketing campaign, England will enjoy a fresh new perception and reap new economic rewards with increased footfall across the country’s network of golf, leisure, entertainment and cultural experiences.
