Gleneagles has scooped the Best British Luxury Brand award at the 2022 Walpole British Luxury Brand Awards, which were held in London on November 21.

The winners of the eight category awards were decided by a voting panel comprised of 250 Walpole member chief executives, with Gleneagles fighting off competition from three other high profile British companies – Boodles, Bentley Motors and Axminster Carpets – for the title of Best British Luxury Brand.

Conor O’Leary, Managing Director of Gleneagles, said: “We are hugely proud of our near 100-year history and our location here in the heart of Scotland. Winning this award feels, in many ways, like the culmination of our 2016 reinvigoration vision and recognises the exceptional daily commitment displayed by the entire team at Gleneagles. Bold designs, innovative products, bespoke adventure programmes, unparalleled guest experiences and the recent launch of Gleneagles Townhouse has ensured our brand is increasingly relevant to a new generation of discerning travellers from around the world.”

Helen Brocklebank, Walpole Chief Executive, said: “This year we received a record number of nominations from British brands at the forefront of innovation, craftmanship, hospitality, design and sustainability, who positively contribute to the evolving economic and cultural impact of British luxury globally,” said”Not only do this year’s winners stand out for their exceptional products and services, but they are notable for their investment in the UK, local economies, employment, arts, and culture which is exactly what this country needs from business right now.”

The past 12 months at Gleneagles have seen the finishing touches applied to a renovation programme that started in 2016 and concluded with the expansion of the brand beyond the Perthshire hills for the first time in its history through the launch of a new city hotel, Gleneagles Townhouse in Edinburgh.

The main hotel has also launched a range of new luxury experiences, including wild swimming in the local hills to a children’s adventure programme and sensory ‘Little Garden’, all of which have increased opportunities for guests to make the most of the beautiful countryside on their doorstep while enjoying the highest levels of service and luxury.

The Auchterader-based resort, which boasts three championship golf courses, has also partnered with a range of luxury British brands to create exciting new experiences for its guests. These include seasonal pop-ups like the Tropical Garden Bar, Moët & Chandon champagne terrace bar, an Italian Riviera-themed bar and restaurant on the hotel’s lawn, and the creation of star-gazing pods in partnership with The Macallan.
