Bespoke golf holiday company Gastro Golf has added Mallorca and Bulgaria to its growing list of European golf holiday venues.

Cheshire-based Gastro Golf specialises in providing golf holidays with a ‘gastronomic twist’ – combining the opportunity to play on some of the world’s top golf courses, stay in luxury hotels, and enjoy exceptional culinary and cultural experiences.

In addition to the already popular resorts of Andalucía, Murcia and Catalonia on mainland Spain, the island of Mallorca is an ideal destination offering beach resorts, sheltered coves, sandy beaches and a selection of courses and resorts ideal for a short golfing break in the sun.

CEO John Sullivan said: “Gastro Golf is delighted to open up the island of Mallorca to UK golfers. As a destination it has so much to offer – great courses, warm sunshine and wonderful food and local wines.  Our resorts – the 4* Hippocampo Playa at Cala Millar and the Vanity Golf Hotel in Alcudia – are superb venues that offer world class facilities and access to a range of top golf courses suitable for every level of golfer.

“Alcanada is benchmark for great golf in Mallorca, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr and Jr, it presents the golfer with a first-class experience with undulating tree lined fairways that gently slope towards the shoreline and the ocean views are quite simply stunning.  As part of an ambitious €700,000 renovation project all 18 greens will be replaced and further upgrades in and around the club will take place the course will re-open in March 2019.

Other golfing greats such as Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones and John D Harris have all designed courses on the island, so we’re more than confident thatanyone visiting here for a golfing break will not go home disappointed.”

Thracian Cliffs, Bulgaria

Bulgaria is a destination that has increased in popularity in recent years. With courses designed by golfing legends Gary Player and Ian Woosnam on offer and being just a short flight from the UK it’s not hard to see why golfers are finding their way there in ever increasing numbers.

Sullivan added: “Bulgaria is a real eye opener. It’s not difficult to get too, accommodation is of a very high standard, and the quality of golf on offer is outstanding. We are delighted to offer two venues of distinct contrast – Thracian Cliffs Resort and Pirin Golf and Country Club.”

Winner of the ‘2014  European Golf Resort of the Year’, Thracian Cliffs Resort boasts an excellent  selection of facilities including a long stretch of private beach, a cosy, relaxed Moroccan wellness center, six dining venues and two courses designed by two golfing legends – Gary Player Course and Ian Woosnam’s Lighthouse Course.

The newer Lighthouse Course is a parkland style track that has a look and feel way beyond its young age. Its 6,720 yards is a challenging layout with strategically placed hazards that will leave a lasting impression on any golfer. Designed by the great man himself, the Gary Player course offers a truly unforgettable round of golf in the most stunning of settings. Set in the coastal cliffs of the Black Sea, this is a course to rival any in the world of golf.

Head west towards the great mountain world of the Raslag valley and you’ll find the 5* Pirin Golf & Country Club and the 6,790-meter Ian Woosnam Championship Course.  This exclusive club ranks as one of the best golf resorts in all of Bulgaria and has surely one of the best mountain backdrops of any golf course in Europe.
