Using the strap line ‘England’s golf coast – naturally challenging‘ www.englandsgolfcoast.com provides in-depth information on the region’s superb array of golfing facilities, making it easier for visitors to find out about and play some of the best courses in the world including Open Championship venues such as Royal Birkdale, Royal Lytham & St Annes and Royal Liverpool (home to The Open Championship in 2006). It also provides a wealth of information on other championship courses in the area such as Southport and Ainsdale, West Lancashire, Hillside and Hesketh plus another 160 courses in the region.
Visitors to the site can also source information on the Northwest’s many other tourist attractions, such as the cities of Liverpool and Manchester, the Lake District as well as special events such as the Grand National at Aintree and the Mersey River Festival.
Chris Brown, director of operations at The Mersey Partnership, said, “The website offers visitors a one-stop-shop to finding out details about our fantastic golf courses, accommodation and booking services, and general tourist information for England’s Northwest. This approach to destination marketing is an innovative way of encouraging more tourists to visit our region.”
The new website is the latest initiative in a £100,000 marketing campaign, funded by the Boroughs of Sefton, Wirral and Fylde along with the Northwest Development Agency (NWDA) and The Mersey Partnership, promoting the region’s golfing and tourism attractions to the rest of the UK and Europe.
Peter Mearns, NWDA director of marketing, said, “This is a great initiative and I am pleased to be supporting it. The website is an effective tool in providing the latest information on the region’s superb golfing facilities, as well as this region’s outstanding tourism offer as a whole. I am certain that the site will prove very popular with visitors and residents of England’s Northwest alike.”
The long-term aim of the campaign, which will be targeted at golfers in key European countries as well as the UK, is to bring new jobs and additional tourist pounds into the area.
All relevant information will also soon be found on the website www.englandsgolfcoast.com
