Druids Glen: Resort & Sanctuary

The Druids Glen Golf Resort, incorporating Druids Glen Golf Course, Druids Heath Golf Course and the Marriott Druids Glen Hotel, has created a wild bird sanctuary on the 400 acre estate

The Druids Glen Golf Resort, recently voted European Golf Resort of the Year 2005, incorporating Druids Glen Golf Course, Druids Heath Golf Course and the Marriott Druids Glen Hotel has created a wild bird sanctuary on the 400 acre estate.
Located in Wicklow – “The Garden of Ireland” – the scenery is magnificent and the courses at Druids Glen are home to a vast variety of indigenous Irish birds.
The programme includes:

  • Improved habitat to include vegetation and nesting boxes.
  • Controlled feeding on the lakes and rivers for swans and ducks and woodlands for pheasants live.
  • The building of special kingfisher banks to encourage nesting.
  • The erection of information boards

The Resort course staff, under the direction of Donal Flinn and Jimmy Harte, have worked enthusiastically to get the project off the ground. Increased numbers of mute swans and mallard duck have already been noted.
