Crete – The place to go for golf this winter

8.20am 27th August 2007 - Travel

The Crete Golf Club looks set to be one of this winter’s most popular golf holiday destinations thanks a series of special seven-day winter golf packages starting for as little as €483 per person, which are available from November 1st – December 22nd 2007 and January 6th – March 31st 2008.

These winter golf packages include seven nights’ half board in a double room with a mountain view at the renowned 5-star Terra Maris Hotel (based on two people sharing) plus six rounds of golf at the spectacular Crete Golf Club.

Special 7-night Christmas and New Year Golf Packages – between December 23rd 2007 and Jan 5th 208 – start at €633.50 (based on two people sharing a standard room with a mountain view).

The Crete Golf Club is situated on a spectacular piece of land about 22 kilometres east of the international airport at Heraklion and about seven kilometres south of the attractive town of Hersonissos.

Its 6,015 metre (6,616 yards) course was designed by Bob Hunt of the PGA Design Partnership and is best described as a classic desert layout similar to those found in quality resorts in Texas and Arizona.

Hunt’s new masterpiece features a series of outstanding holes and affords dramatic views over spectacular rolling landscape that has changed little since the Minoan era back in 2600-1100 BC. Facilities also include a 40-bay covered golf academy and a palatial clubhouse catering for all golfers’ needs.

The 5-star Terra Maris is situated overlooking the sea in Hersonisson and just a short drive from Crete Golf Club. It offers a wide choice of accommodation and an impressive range of facilities including a state-of-the-art health and fitness centre, outdoor and indoor swimming pools, a watersports centre and an expansive sandy beach.

Preferential Hertz car hire rates are also available for all customers.
