Spain’s Costa del Sol is to become the first location in Europe – and one of only two worldwide – to boast a child-free resort and spa from the Hilton Worldwide chain.

The unique offering is thanks to an agreement reached between the international flagship brand and the tourist resort Reserva del Higuerón at the last Internationale Tourismus-Börse Berlin (ITB Berlin).

Hilton’s presence in the legendary sunshine location marks an unprecedented step for the region and the landing of one of the most prestigious brands in the global tourism industry.

What’s more, some of the finest golf courses in the area – Torrequebrada Golf, Mijas Golf, Santana Golf, Chaparral Golf, Cabopino Golf Marbella, Rio Real Golf and Los Naranjos – have added even greater value to the move by agreeing to join Hilton’s supply services.

The soon-to-be rebranded DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Reserva del Higuerón has developed a range of unique packages to suit all tastes for stays of three, five and seven days, including competitive offers from the golf courses and new services specifically designed for the Hilton chain’s clients, when enjoying a round of golf.

Domingo Gavira, Chaparral golf director, said: “Collaboration with Hilton Worldwide is undoubtedly a guaranteed success and will help us to reach our goal of positioning the Costa del Sol as one of the most important destinations in southern Europe.”

And Mónica Sanchez, director of sales at the forthcoming resort, added: “We believe in the importance of developing the golf segment for our guests and will do so thanks to our proximity to first-rate golf courses and the Málaga International Airport – one of the best airports around, which connects to the most important cities across Europe.

“Of course, none of this would be possible without the unique environment and climate of the Costa del Sol, which provides a truly enviable quality of life.”

Thanks to the region’s sun-drenched climate – which boasts more than 325 days of sunshine per year – the market is demanding more hotel availability. DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Reserva del Higuerón will not only help meet that demand, but also provide an important economic stimulus to the area, repositioning the Costa del Sol as a leading destination.

The DoubleTree by Hilton brand is the fastest-growing group in the world, with more than 400 properties in 34 countries, and is approaching 45 million users under its Hilton HHonors program – a hotel rewards program.

DoubleTree by Hilton Resort & Spa Reserva del Higuerón will operate under its new brand name from next month and features 177 rooms and suites with an innovative design, a spa with a luxury circuit, a wellness centre, a shopping centre, and other leisure facilities with a large variety of sport options and eateries – with its flagship restaurants being Al Rolo and the recently opened SOLLO Restaurante by Diego Gallegos, who was awarded Revelation Chef 2015 at Madrid Fusión.

The hotel also boasts the outstanding Infinity terrace bar, which is located on the top floor, and a spectacular panoramic pool, strategically positioned to offer guests the ‘sky lounge’ and panoramic views over the Mediterranean Sea. In addition, guests can enjoy two outdoor pools, two indoor pools – one of them semi-Olympic – a sport club, two tennis courts and 11 paddle courts, as well as several facilities to practise sand sports.
