Clubstohire.com, Europe’s largest golf club rental operator, has been hit by Open Championship fever this week, selling out of its high-end Callaway, TaylorMade and Wilson Staff hire sets available from its service at Edinburgh airport.
Helped by golfers from around the globe flying into the Scottish capital to take in the 144th Open Championship at nearby St Andrews, the award-winning rental firm has seen an unprecedented number of bookings over the July period. The Dublin-based enterprise has also witnessed a record year for golfers hiring clubs at Edinburgh for a weekly fee between €35 and €60, with bookings up 70% on the same period in 2014.
“The Open Championship has certainly attracted more people to our Edinburgh service this week, however it’s fair to say we’ve seen significant growth over the whole of this year – particularly from American and Continental European golfers,” said ClubstoHire CEO Tony Judge. “We’re planning to add even more hire sets for the Edinburgh region soon and we’re also considering bringing the service to other popular Scottish golfing destinations in the near future.”
After pre-selecting their equipment online, golfers visiting Edinburgh – plus the other 24 ClubstoHire locations across Europe, Africa, Asia and the United States – can have their clubs delivered to their hotel or resort on arrival and collected before departure.
Just two weeks ago, ClubstoHire introduced its service to three locations in the United States. Sets of the latest TaylorMade and Callaway golf clubs are now on offer to golfers flying into Orlando, Florida; Scottsdale, Arizona; and Las Vegas, Nevada from €80 per week.
“With ClubstoHire now having greater exposure at several busy American destinations, we hope to see continued growth at locations like Edinburgh during the next 12 months,” added Judge.
ClubstoHire also began operations in Africa (Cape Town & Marrakesh) and Asia (Bangkok & Pattaya, Thailand) during the last year, as increasing numbers of people travel to long haul destinations to play golf. By the end of this year, the innovative company will have supplied over 75,000 sets of golf clubs from its 25 locations.
