Carr Golf announces 2012 Golf Events Calendar

Carr Golf has announced the addition of a Brothers Golf Tournament to its 2012 Events Calendar. Carr Golf events have attracted 4,000 participants over the past 23 years and expect 200 teams to participate in its events this year.

In May, the Inaugural Brothers Tournament at St. Andrews will be played over four courses, including Carnoustie and Kingsbarns, when held from the 24th to 27th. The event is being hosted by the Carr and Bunch families. Ian Bunch recently retired as secretary of Prestwick Golf Club, the oldest British Open venue inScotland.

In July, the 4th World Invitational Father & Daughter will be played, once again, over the famous Doonbeg and Lahinch Links, with families basing themselves at the 5 star Luxury Lodge at Doonbeg from the 9th to 12th July. A number of family and non-golf spouse activities have been arranged for 2012.

In August, the main event on Carr Golf’s Calendar is the 23rd World Invitational Father & Son Tournament, which will be held, once again, at Waterville Golf Links, Co. Kerry from 8th to 12th August.

This 4-day celebrity event has attracted personalities, politicians and business people from all over the world for the past 23 years. 2012 saw 80 teams from seven countries participate. Father Son teams in 2011 included ice hockey legend Wayne Gretsky, American footballer Dan Marino, golf course designer Tom Fazio, Snooker world champion Denis Taylor and radio and sports personality George Hook.

Other regulars include Dermot Desmond, JP McManus, Vice President Dan Quayle and Bobby Orr. Teams fromIndia,Russia,Dubai,Hong Kong,BarbadosandArgentinajoin the mainly Irish / American gathering.

Finally, in September the 3rd Celtic Couples Challenge will take place, once again, in Killarney from 24th to 28th September. Staying at the sumptuous 5 star Aghadoe Heights Hotel, teams will play four of the south west ofIreland’s best links including Ballybunion, Tralee,Watervilleand Dooks. 20 qualifying events will be held inFloridawith the winners playing in the final in Kerry.

The cost of participation in these prestigious events starts from €1,250 per person depending where you stay and includes a comprehensive offering including; accommodation, golf, transport, receptions, dinners, gifts and entertainment.
