Camiral Golf & Wellness (formerly PGA Catalunya) has opened a fully fitted Reformer Pilates Studio at its five-star Hotel Camiral.
Equipped with state-of-the-art apparatus from Spanish-founded Pilates brand ARREGON, the contemporary studio will enable guests to target individual athletic needs while improving core strength, postural alignment and muscle balance with a series of tailored programmes.
“Golf is repetitive in its movement patterns which can cause imbalances and hinder performance,” said David Ashington, Director of Golf at Camiral Golf & Wellness. “Pilates can really help rectify these by targeting the areas golfers struggle with the most to improve both on-course performance and overall wellbeing.
“Our programmes utilise a circuit training format focusing on form, alignment and breathing, and we would encourage golfers to incorporate this practice into their stay, either before or after a game, as it can help improve mobility, posture, range of motion and upper body rotation in order to deliver maximum power, while also decreasing their chances of pain and injury.”
Adjacent to the 1,000 square-meter Wellness Centre and designed by Marie Earle – internationally-renowned master teacher with over 26 years of experience and the resort’s in-house Pilates consultant – the studio offers tailored 1:1 sessions, group mat classes, duet and trio training, as well as a series of customisable plans around improved performance and sports recovery.
Alongside the opening of its new Pilates studio, the 36-hole European Tour Destination is holding a series of retreats and wellness programmes throughout 2023 that target topics of athletic recovery, immunity, sleep and stress, and align with the resort’s four fundamental pillars: movement, nutrition, recovery and relaxation.
Núria Camins, Wellness Centre Manager at Camiral Golf & Wellness, said: “Combined with our expanded range of programmes and treatments, we are able to offer golfers a unique opportunity to have a wellness-focused experience that will not only improve their game, but also their mind and physical health.”
“Our new Pilates Studio not only sets us apart from other golf resorts, by offering a unique differentiator that positions us at the forefront of modern wellbeing, it also enables golfers to incorporate this practice into their routines when they come to Camiral Golf & Wellness, helping them develop an improved mind-body connection. Golf and Pilates share many of the same fundamentals, such as breathing, centring, fluidity, concentration and body alignment.”
Boasting traditional Reformers, Cadillac tables and a wide scope of specialised machinery, the new Pilates Studio also offers Ladder Barrels to activate core muscles, Wunda Chairs for full body workouts and Arm Chairs to accelerate muscle recovery.
