Four lucky golfers are celebrating their good fortune after winning an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2014 Masters courtesy of Golfbreaks.com.

Mike and Min Woodward, along with long-time friends and golfing partners, Adrian and Cynthia Miller, booked a break to the DeVere Belfry in May – and thanks to Golfbreaks.com, that two-day visit to the legendary Ryder Cup venue became their ticket to one of the most exclusive Major Championship venues in golf.

The amazing competition began in April as part of the company’s 15th birthday celebrations, with any booking made during an eight-week window qualifying for the draw. Thousands of golfers entered in the hope of landing the grand prize of a five-day trip to Augusta, including flights, accommodation, a couple of rounds of golf and the all-important golden tickets: tournament passes for the Saturday and Sunday of the Masters.

“We are stunned…. but absolutely ecstatic,” said Mike, a 15-handicap member at FarringtonPark in Bristol. “I have been watching the Masters for as long as I can remember and have always dreamt of one day making it to Augusta. I honestly can’t believe our luck. I did actually think it was somebody playing a trick but thankfully it wasn’t!”

With two of the lucky four turning 70 next year, the Masters trip looks set to turn into a real golfing odyssey with plans afoot to take in some of the finest golf venues of the American south-east, such as KiawahIsland, Pinehurst and HarbourTown – as well as the hallowed turf of Augusta National.

“We’ve been using Golfbreaks.com for many years and have always trusted them to organise our golf holidays. The staff are brilliant – knowledgeable, helpful and friendly – and we can’t wait to start planning our American trip with them. It’s going to be the golf break of a lifetime.”

In addition to marking 15 successful years in business, the Masters competition celebrated the Windsor-based company’s big push into the United States. As well as selling Masters packages for the first time, Golfbreaks.com also unveiled a host of new American destinations including California, Arizona, Nevada and North Carolina. Earlier in the year, a US office was also opened, enabling the company to source the best deals at the leading resorts and venues.

“We’re all delighted for Mike and Min – as well as Adrian and Cynthia – and look forward to making the arrangements for what will be the ultimate golf break,” said Steve Hemsworth, Managing Director of Golfbreaks.com. “Whether it’s playing at PebbleBeach, Sawgrass or KiawahIsland, or walking the fairways of Augusta National, the United States is undoubtedly one of the world’s premier golf destinations. We’re sure that our winners, and many more of our customers, will enjoy discovering what this great country has to offer.”
