A new headline sponsor has been confirmed for a prestigious golf tournament held at three of Scotland’s leading links courses.
Blue Group, who supply world leading material handling equipment for the quarrying and waste recycling industries, agreed a three-year deal to support the Highland Golf Links annual Pro-Am, played over the internationally-renowned courses at Castle Stuart Golf Links, Royal Dornoch Golf Club and The Nairn Golf Club.
The Tartan Tour event will now be known as the Highland Golf Links 54-Hole Pro-Am Sponsored by Blue Group, with the first tournament under the new backing being held from 26-28 September 2016.
Since its inception in 2013, the Pro-Am has grown steadily in popularity. This year more than 200 golfers, from Scotland, England, Wales, Switzerland and Denmark, took part, including renowned professionals such as Steven O’Hara and Greig Hutcheon.
Blue, who have offices throughout the UK and Ireland, take over as sponsors from Tomatin.
A number of teams from Blue will be eligible to participate in the event and the group’s corporate branding will be on display across each of the three venues during the event.
Blue director Austin Carey said: “We are delighted to become the headline sponsor of this renowned event over three of the most magnificent golf courses in Scotland.
“The combination of high quality golf and spectacular scenery means it is a well-established and much-anticipated tournament in the golfing calendar.”
Fraser Cromarty, chairman of Highland Golf Links (HGL), added: “We are very excited by this new sponsorship agreement with Blue which can help us develop the Pro-Am even further.
“We are enormously grateful to Tomatin for its backing over the last three years and we now look forward to working with Blue to build on previous success and attract more players to the event which in turn will enhance the prize money on offer.”
The tournament, which currently boasts a professional prize fund of £40,000, involves teams competing over the three courses which are all members of HGL, a partnership that promotes golfing breaks in the area
Each team of four includes a leading pro from the Professional Golfers’ Association Scotland Order of Merit.
