Europe’s largest golf tour operator, Golfbreaks.com, has rounded off another successful year by being named International Golf Tour Operator of the Year at the prestigious Golf Tourism Scotland awards in Edinburgh.

Having opened a dedicated office in Scotland in 2011, Europe’s largest golf tour operator held off competition from a number of high-profile rivals to secure the award, which was voted for by GTS members and the public.

“This is tremendous recognition for all the great work that’s been undertaken by Golfbreaks.com in Scotland and we are delighted to receive the award,” said Matt Shaw, Product Manager (Scotland) for the company.

“With the voting having been opened up to a much bigger audience, winning this important accolade is even more rewarding. Scotland is a hugely important part of our business and we look forward to even more development in the years to come.”

Golfbreaks.com sends thousands of golfers from across the UK & Ireland to Scotland every year, and with two of the next three Open Championships, as well as the 2014 Ryder Cup, being held in the ‘Home of Golf’, interest among the golfing public looks set to further increase.

Lee Derrick, Chairman of Golf Tourism Scotland, said: “In 2012 we had our biggest voter turnout to date and the tour operator categories always generate a lot of interest as these are the companies that represent the shop window to our fabulous product. I am thrilled that our members chose to recognise the continued efforts of Golfbreaks.com and, of course, the business that Golfbreaks.com is able to direct their way.”
