Galvin Green has become the official clothing sponsor of this year’s Clutch Pro Tour, Europe’s leading open access tour designed to give developing professional golfers the opportunity to compete at some of the UK’s top championship courses.

As part of the new sponsorship, The Galvin Green Championship – staged on the famous Nicklaus course at St Mellion from May 3-5 – becomes the Tour’s first 54-hole strokeplay event, with total prize money of £20,000 and £5,000 going to the winner.

“Linking up with the Clutch Pro Tour is a very exciting association for Galvin Green, as we look to work even closer with up-and-coming serious golfers around the UK and Ireland,” said Conor Petters, Marketing Manager for the brand in Europe’s biggest golf apparel market. “We continue to support promising talent with our increasing range of eco-generation products, as well as a growing number of British players competing on the major tours, such as Laurie Canter, Jordan Smith and Amy Boulden. The Clutch Tour offers something different with male and female players and we look forward to a great partnership.”

Commenting on behalf of the Clutch Pro Tour, co-founder and director Tom Hayward said: “Galvin Green is a name in golf synonymous with high-quality, so we jumped at the opportunity to build a partnership. Our aim is to provide career-launching incentives and opportunities for developing professional golfers in the UK and Ireland. Since the premium apparel brand shares our vision, we’re confident it will prove to be a great partnership and I hope that a clutch putt on the 18th wins The Galvin Green Championship at St Mellion to mark our first ever 54-hole tournament with something special!”

This season, the Clutch Pro Tour is offering hundreds of promising players five European Tour and 40 Challenge Tour invites this season and a total payout of £630,000, plus playing opportunities on the DP World Tour and LET/LPGA Tour. Events are open to male and female professionals and elite amateurs playing off scratch or better. The Order of Merit winner gains two Challenge Tour invites for 2023, a free international series, a club deal with Mizuno, a Bushnell laser and a one-year management contract with Unity Golf, plus a Galvin Green wardrobe for next season.

The first of this season’s 25 Clutch Pro Tour events begins next month at Olton Golf Club in Solihull, and the schedule includes tournaments played at top-ranked courses such as Prince’s, Remedy Oak, Chart Hills, Frilford Heath, The Oxfordshire, North Hants, Royal Ashdown Forest, Moor Park, Royal Norwich and Goodwood. The tour players – average age 25 – also have the chance to play in the Northern Ireland Open over three courses – Cairndhu, Castle Rock and Galgorm Castle. The Tour Championship finale will be played at Kedleston Park GC, Derbyshire, in October.

Galvin Green also sponsors several promising European professionals playing on the Clutch Pro Tour, including Shergo Al Kurdi, Mike Bullen, George Baylis, Ryan Cornfield and Nick Cunningham. Brand signage will be prominently displayed at all Tour events, as well as featuring on live streaming and social media posts.
