The Federation of European Golf Greenkeepers Associations (FEGGA) will be taking their roadshow to various parts of South Africa.
FEGGA is the umbrella association for all the national greenkeepers associations throughout Europe and recently widened their reach by accepting South Africa as affiliate members. This was a decision taken at their AGM by all the member countries in response to South Africa wanting to be part of the pan European standards being formed within greenkeeping education.
To keep this momentum going it was decided to take the FEGGA roadshow to South Africa and deliver three full seminar days, and also to take the first steps in working towards setting up formal education programmes for greenkeepers.
The roadshow is being sponsored by three of FEGGA’s patron members, Floratine, Toro and Syngenta. FEGGA have also invited the newly formed International Golf Course Equipment Managers Association (IGCEMA) to deliver education sessions within their specialised area. FEGGA will also be joined by another patron member, Elmwood College, to focus on future educational needs and how this can be structured to create long-term sustainable education.
Dean Cleaver, FEGGA CEO commented, “We are delighted to have this opportunity to work with South Africa and to assist them with their educational needs. We are also pleased that with the support of our sponsors and also our industry partners we are able to put together a team that can share their expertise and also help with creating and setting up educational programmes for the future in South Africa.”
IGCEMA President Stephen Tucker said, “”This is a great opportunity for the IGCEMA to create relationships with our world-wide colleagues and expand our educational offerings to other countries.”
The roadshow will start on the 20th August at Steenberg Golf Club in Cape Town, travel to Princes Grant on the 22nd in Durban and conclude on the 23rd at Bryanston Country Club in Johannesburg.
