European Tour And Rolex Extend Historic Partnership

The European Tour and Rolex announce that they have extended their current, long-standing partnership.

Rolex has been the proud partner and Official Timekeeper of The European Tour since 1997, encouraging the development, organisation and promotion of golf worldwide.

The decade-long extension, which strengthens the position of Rolex as a leading sponsor in golf, will run until 2022 and includes Rolex’s partnership with the Ryder Cup. The renewed deal deepens the historic bond between Rolex, the world’s leading Swiss watchmaker and The European Tour, reinforcing Rolex’s position as the longest serving partner of The Ryder Cup.

“Rolex’s commitment to the game of golf is unparalleled,” said George O’Grady, Chief Executive of The European Tour. “They have been a valued partner of the Tour over many years, supporting us in every aspect of our mission to deliver golf worldwide.

“Rolex support us right across the board of all of our Tours, including the Senior Tour, the Challenge Tour, The Ryder Cup and The European Tour itself. Rolex’s partnership with us is unique and exceptional and together we look forward to creating a stage for tomorrow’s golfers and working to shape the future of The European Tour.”

Rolex has been championing the game of golf since 1967 and is firmly committed to continuing its sporting heritage into the foreseeable future, supporting The European Tour’s 46 tournaments in 25 countries.

“Today, Rolex is golf’s leading supporter and is associated not only with the most important and prestigious entities governing the sport worldwide, but also with golf’s principal professional tours, competitions and athletes,” Rolex stated.

“Our extended partnership with The European Tour, whom we have supported since 1997, is a mark of our strong commitment to the future of golf, and exemplifies the values of excellence embodied by the Tour as well as the great game of golf.”

Paul McGinley, 2014 European Ryder Cup Captain, said: “When Rolex is involved in an event they bring a superior standard of quality which is recognised worldwide. I look forward to continuing my playing career with them at my side and to hopefully celebrating together a European victory at Gleneagles next year.”

The announcement was made today at the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai – the final event on The 2013 European Tour calendar – Race to Dubai. The tournament promises a show-stopping end to the season where the world’s top players will vie for the $US 8 million prize fund.
