ECCO GOLF Ambassador Minjee Lee shot a seven-under-par 64 to claim her maiden major title at the Evian Championship in France.
The Australian star, wearing ECCO BIom G3, went into Sunday’s round seven shots adrift of the overnight leader, but birdied four of her final five holes to set the target at 18-under-par, before making another birdie on the first playoff hole to secure the title on the banks of Lake Geneva.
“It was really close and I’m really happy, I never thought about winning while playing, I just tried to make as many birdies as I could,” said Lee. “I saw the leaderboard maybe once or twice, and I just tried to play to the best of my ability and it’s really great to win a major!”
Jesper Thuen, responsible for sponsorship at ECCO GOLF, said: “It’s absolutely fantastic to see Minjee win her first major at the Evian Championship. Everyone at ECCO is delighted for her. This is a fantastic achievement, but we know this is only the start for Minjee. We hope that this will be the first of many majors for her.”
Lee was one of three players to finish in the top 10 this week wearing ECCO BIOM G3, the company’s flagship cleated model that features smooth ECCO performance leather and a waterproof GORE-TEX construction that keeps feet dry and comfortable in all conditions.
The shoe is also highlighted by exceptional support and comfort with ECCO GOLF’s renowned BIOM NATURAL MOTION last that combines low-to-the-ground stability with a glove-like fit that is built for natural motion.
In addition to Minjee Lee, ECCO GOLF shoes are worn in competition around the world by Caroline Masson, Lydia Ko, Henrik Stenson, Fred Couples, Erik van Rooyen and Thomas Bjørn, among others.
