Boost for Scottish Amateur Championship

1.00am 11th April 2006 - Sponsorship & Events

Allied Surveyors will sponsor the Scottish Amateur Championships at Nairn in 2006 and Prestwick in 2007.
The agreement is worth more than £60,000 over the next two years and marks one of the biggest investments in amateur golf in Scotland. Allied Surveyors, one of Scotland’s leading independent surveyors, began their partnership with the Scottish Golf Union last year and the success of 2005 Scottish Amateur Championship has signalled an extension to their initial one year arrangement.
The new deal provides a further boost to the SGU’s sponsorship revenues, which have increased significantly over the last two years, and the organisation is delighted to secure a prestigious long term partner for its flagship championship.
“The new agreement with Allied Surveyors is fantastic news for the Scottish Golf Union and the Scottish Amateur Championship. We have formed an excellent partnership with Allied Surveyors over the last twelve months which has brought many benefits to both parties,” said Ross Duncan, the SGU’s marketing & sponsorship manager. “The investment is a significant one for our organisation, and will help us further build the profile of the championship and enhance the development of talent among Scotland’s leading amateur golfers.”
Allied Surveyors are one of Scotland and the UK’s leading independent chartered surveyors, with more than 160 offices in the UK, including 36 in Scotland. Last year’s agreement marked their first move into sports sponsorship and the company has benefited greatly from their involvement with Scottish amateur golf.
“Our sponsorship of the Scottish Amateur Championship has really helped put the Allied Surveyors brand on the map in Scotland. We are an ambitious and forward thinking company which we feel is matched by the SGU and amateur golf in Scotland. Working with the SGU over the next two years will help us achieve those ambitions and further growth.” said Ian Thomson, managing director of Allied Surveyors Scotland.
This year’s Championship takes place at Nairn from Monday 31st July to Saturday 5th August, featuring 256 of Scotland’s best amateur golfers playing in knock-out match play format. The event concludes a run of four major golf tournaments in Scotland in July, including the Challenge Tour at Murcar Links, the Scottish Open at Loch Lomond and the British Seniors Open at Turnberry.
Allied Surveyors and the Scottish Golf Union have been nominated for the Best First Time Sponsor award at the 2006 Scottish Sports Sponsorship Awards, taking place in Glasgow on Thursday 4 May.
