8.44am 9th February 2024 - Sponsorship & Events

A groundbreaking 2024 will see the WPGA Series concludes its season at the prestigious Royal Troon, the venue for this year’s Open Championship.

WPGA Members are presented with a unique opportunity to grace the renowned Old Course just months after the Champion Golfer of the Year is crowned.

Kicking off at Ireland’s Glasson Lakehouse on May 21, the 2024 WPGA Series then ventures to Saffron Walden on June 17. The third event unfolds at Redditch Golf Club on July 25, followed by Tewkesbury Park hosting the penultimate event on August 19. The grand finale at Royal Troon will take place on September 17 and promises to be a spectacular end to the season.

Elsewhere, the flagship Women’s PGA Professional & Assistants’ Championship will be staged at Goswick Golf Club, which has served as Regional Qualifying venue for The Open Championship.

Other events included in the 2024 schedule are the WPGA Ladies Pro-Am, which will be staged at Thorpe Wood on June 25, and the WPGA Mixed Invitational Greensomes event returns to Essendon for the second year running on July 29.

Another added incentive for WPGA Members to participate in 2024 is the opportunity to represent Great Britain & Ireland in the Women’s PGA Cup.

Captained by Cathy Panton-Lewis, the GB&I team will comprise of five players qualifying through their combined results in the 2023/24 Women’s PGA Championship and WPGA Series.

Panton-Lewis added: “Our British and Irish Women’s PGA Cup team came so close to winning last year under Sarah Bennett’s captaincy and I believe that we can win it in 2024. I’m hugely looking forward to watching – and playing in – the WPGA one day events and Women’s PGA Championship at Goswick as we finalise the Women’s PGA Cup line-up. These events are hugely enjoyable and I’d urge all WPGA Members to enter as many events as possible in what is an exciting schedule.”

Shona Malcolm, Head of Tournament Strategy at The PGA, said: “WPGA tournaments are open to all WPGA Members and Trainees, no matter where they are located and the 2024 season schedule demonstrate our commitment to taking WPGA tournaments to all parts of the UK and Ireland, and to great courses.

“The profile of the WPGA Series is always raised in a Women’s PGA Cup year as WPGA Members strive to make the Great Britain & Ireland team, and this year is no exception. The importance of securing Royal Troon as a host venue for a WPGA tournament should not be under-estimated. Both Royal Troon and The PGA are committed to developing the women’s game and this new addition to the WPGA Series schedule provides the opportunity for both parties to work together to promote the importance and progressive nature of engaging women in golf.

“The remainder of the schedule contains a real variety of superb courses and tournament formats spread throughout the UK & Ireland, providing different types of playing opportunities for all Members. WPGA tournaments have grown in popularity year on year, and it would be great to see many more WPGA Members taking the opportunity to participate during the coming season.”
