Following its successful launch in 2022, The Women in Golf Awards is back for 2023, with Walton Heath Golf Club in Surrey staging the event on Tuesday, August 8, in the week that it hosts the AIG Women’s Open.
There will be a total of ten awards presented on the night. In a change from the inaugural event, men will be invited to attend in a move designed to connect the women who are rising stars of the industry with the mostly male decision makers.
Similarly, undergraduates and women who may consider a future career in golf, will be among guests invited to attend as a way of showcasing the diverse jobs opportunities available in the industry.
Nicole Wheatley, co-founder of the Women in Golf Awards, said: “We are incredibly excited to bring the awards to Walton Heath Golf Club during the week of the Women’s Open. It’s a fitting location to recognise the women, brands and places making a difference in the world of golf, alongside the very best players in the world. The awards will be a marvellous celebration of all sectors of the sport and is a fantastic opportunity for women, and men, to come together to recognise the wonderful work that goes on every day in golf.”
Alex Woodward, CEO of Walton Heath Golf Club, added: “Walton Heath has made a commitment to ensure that our hosting of the 2023 AIG Women’s Open is greater than the four days of the championship. In our delivery of this commitment, we have instigated and supported a number of initiatives to promote and elevate the role of women working in the golf industry.
Hosting the Women in Golf Awards this year is the perfect addition to what has already been an incredible series of events, bringing together women from across the industry at an event which already highlights excellence in women’s sport. We truly believe the AIG Women’s Open is the perfect event for all the women in the industry to come together once a year and are excited to see the winners on the night.”
Nominations for the Women in Golf Awards 2023 will open shortly and will be hosted through a new website – www.womeningolfawards.com.
