The Professional Golfers‘ Association has signed a lucrative new sponsorship deal with BMW, one of the world’s leading luxury car manufacturers. The latest in a list of prestigious brands to join forces with the PGA, BMW will be support sponsors of the Gulf Air International Pro Captain Challenge, which will tee off on 19th November 2004.
Attracting the UK’s top golf club pros and captains, the Challenge, which was formed by the PGA in association with Gulf Air and Riffa Golf Club in Bahrain, was the obvious choice for the Bavarian marque.
As part of the deal, BMW will be offering all PGA members preferential rates on selected models from August.
Jim O‘Donnell, managing director of BMW GB said, “BMW is pleased to support a competition that will host some of the best professional golfers in the world in the international golfing community who will tee off in Bahrain.
“BMW has long been associated with golf and the Pro Captain’s Challenge event promises to be one of the highlights of the year.”
The Gulf Air International Challenge was developed to mark the special relationship that develops each year between the club pro and captain during their traditional matches against the members.
Captains are being invited by the PGA to take part in a qualifying round, which are to be held at Crail Golfing Society at Crail Craighead Links on 20th July, Birchwood in Warrington on 16th August, The Lambourne Club in Burnham on 16th August, Cumberwell Park in Bradford-upon-Avon on 31st August, Heritage Golf & Country Club in Killenard, Ireland on 31st August, John O‘Gaunt in Biggleswade on 20th September and Walsall Golf Club in the West Midlands on 30th September.
