PGA professionals will have access to the very latest cutting edge technology after TrackMan agreed to continue its support of the PGA’s education programmes.

The Denmark-based firm, which also has operations in the UK, USA and Asia-Pacific regions, is supplying its wireless TrackMan IIIe model to the PGA Training Academy.

The doppler radar-based device measures both ball flight characteristics, impact factors and assists coaches and players in establishing greater consistency through further understanding of the dynamics of the performance. TrackMan is the world’s first and only golf club and ball data tool with totally integrated video and data.

With sports science being an important module on the PGA’s Foundation Degree, equipment such as TrackMan is instrumental in helping The PGA produce the best trained PGA professionals in world golf.

Ben Langdown, the PGA’s sports science executive, commented: “The coaching expertise and standards of PGA members is increasing year on year, helped in part by access to the very latest technologies that give unique insight into the golf swing and performance.

“TrackMan has established a reputation as a world leader in its field and we will be using the monitor across all the PGA education programmes that we deliver to AGMS and Foundation Degree students, for continuous professional development and for various research projects we are involved in.

“On a practical level, TrackMan will allow us to show the PGA assistants all the data that is available for impact and ball flight and how that relates to the biomechanics of the swing.”

Emanuel Frauenlob, sales director of TrackMan Europe explains: “We are very proud that the world’s first ever golfers’ association, The PGA, has decided to continue and formalize our long lasting relationship. Beside providing our cutting edge technology we will also work together in deliveringTrackManUniversitycontent as part of the PGA education programmes. “

TrackMan was established in 2003 and is sold in more than 36 countries worldwide.

Its radar technology has not only given valuable information for coaches but has also changed the way players think, practice and get fitted for golf clubs with its ability to deliver instant data and swing feedback, and then later, print and share reports, enabling coaches to provide comprehensive state of the art instruction.

Among the 85 tour players who use TrackMan are Ryder Cup heroes Martin Kaymer, Graeme McDowell, Francesco Molinari, Justin Rose, Peter Hanson and Ian Poulter.
