Team places are now being booked for the 22nd annual Golf Foundation Pro-Am, held this year at The Buckinghamshire, on Monday, 13th October.
The event is a highlight of the golfing calendar, supported by The European Tour and held at one of the country’s finest golfing venues. Teams of three amateurs are joined by a Tour professional on the day for a Stableford competition which features a range of prizes and on-course challenges.
The activities include champagne breakfast, dinner and a charity auction, with all money raised going to the Golf Foundation’s work in junior grass roots golf development (more than £60,000 has been raised in the last three years alone).
Competitors each year are typically from the world of business and sport, people who are keen to support the future of the game through the Golf Foundation, a charity that is committed to the sporting and social development of young people through golf. The Foundation raises money through the Pro-Am to fund programmes that make golf more accessible to children in schools, golf clubs and driving ranges.
Mike Round, chief executive of the Golf Foundation, said, “Supported as it is by The European Tour and held at the excellent venue of The Buckinghamshire, the Golf Foundation Pro-Am is always an exciting day for everyone.
“The level of enthusiasm in which it is supported demonstrates how much people care about junior golf at the grass roots, and is perhaps a reflection of how our inclusive work with youngsters from all backgrounds in schools and golf facilities is being received.”
This year’s revenue will go towards the delivery of Golf Foundation initiatives such as Tri-Golf and Golf Xtreme in schools, the provision of the structured learning programme, the Junior Golf Passport, at golf facilities, and the Foundation’s inner-city project, ‘Golf Roots‘, which this year is taking place in 16 cities. All of these initiatives support the work of the national golf partnerships to increase the number of people taking up golf and staying in the sport.
