This year’s Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship features a strong contingent from the Ladies European Tour including Charley Hull, Carly Booth, Kelsey MacDonald, Alex Peters and Amy Boulden, competing alongside golfing legends and stars of the men’s game at Nailcote Hall from 11th-14th August 2015. It is a rare opportunity to see the male and female golfers compete against each other.
Leading the field at this year’s Championship is 2014 Ladies European Tour Order of Merit winner, Charley Hull, who is a good friend of British Par 3 Championship host, two-time Major winner Tony Jacklin CBE. A regular at Nailcote Hall, Charley first impressed when she won the Norma C Herd Silver Salver for leading amateur at the Championship in 2012. An extremely talented player and Solheim Cup winner, who is still just 19, there is no doubt that she will be amongst the leaders once again at this year’s Championship.
Described as a Scottish golfing prodigy, Carly Booth enjoyed an illustrious amateur career, before appearing in her first professional event when she was just 14. A double Ladies European Tour winner in her debut season, the 23-year-old is still one of the sport’s most exciting talents.
Amongst the other players making their debut at the Championship this year including Ladies European Tour player, Kelsey MacDonald. The Scottish golfer was able to capitalise on a year of strong performances by gaining her full card at the 2015 LET tour school, finishing in 6th place overall.
Another highly talented young player and last year’s LET Rookie of the Year, Amy Boulden secured three top five finishes on the Ladies European Tour in her debut season including finishing runner-up at the Lacoste Ladies Open de France. She is having another good year on the tour with a further two top five finishes and a top ten finish at the Ricoh Women’s British Open which will hopefully be capped off with a strong performance at the Farmfoods British Par 3 Championship.
Another star to watch is Alex Peters, who has been making waves on this season’s Ladies European Tour by firing a course record at the Ladies European Masters including a back nine 29 which equalled the all-time record on the tour. This is her debut season on the women’s elite tour, and she will be looking to make a big impression at this year’s Championship.
Some of the male golfers competing alongside the female pros include former Open Champion Paul Lawrie OBE, Ryder Cup legends Brian Barnes and Des Smyth, European Senior Tour stars Gary Wolstenholme, Miguel Angel Martin and Tony Johnstone and stars of the European Tour: Robert Rock, Lee Slattery, Daniel Brooks, Max Orrin and Jason Palmer.
The Championship, organised by leading brand agency Champions (UK) plc, also features two days of Celeb-Am action, welcoming a host of stars to tackle the Cromwell Course. Some of the celebrities already confirmed include: former F1 World Champion, Damon Hill OBE; Manchester United goalkeeping great, Peter Schmeichel MBE; Irish Boy Band favourites, Brian McFadden and Keith Duffy, Former England cricket Captain Allan Lamb, Soccer AM presenter Max Rushden and Athletics duo Derek Redmond and John Regis.
