Slaley Hall creates ‘interactive golf zone’

7.56am 19th August 2008 - Sponsorship & Events

An ‘interactive golf zone’ will be available to everyone who attends the PGA Seniors Championship being held at the spectacular Slaley Hall, De Vere’s luxurious Northumberland resort.

Throughout all four days of the tournament (Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th August), golfers of all standards will be able to hone their skills with the aid of expert tuition, the very latest golf equipment and state-of-the art golf gadgets.

On each day De Vere qualified PGA professionals will be offering free 15 minute golf lessons between 10.00am and 4.00pm, open to all attendees on a first come, first serve basis. There will also be a junior group tuition session on the Thursday afternoon, between 3.00pm and 5.00pm, where a number of the Senior Tour Professionals from the main event will be lending their support.

Furthermore, everyone who attends the tournament will be able to enter a special putting competition; the winner of which will receive a superb prize of a 4-ball round of golf, inclusive of buggies, for the Dave Thomas-designed Hunting Course on which the PGA Seniors Championship will be contested.

Leading premium golf equipment brand Bobby Jones will be running a demonstration area to enable attendees to try out all their very latest equipment and receive expert advice on the products to suit their game. Two state-of-the-art Flightscope launch monitors, as used by the world’s best players, will also be in operation so visitors can see their shot characteristics to the last detail from launch angle and ball flight, to driving distance and spin.

Golf Director for Slaley Hall and Oulton Hall, Keith Pickard said, “We want to make sure that everyone who comes to Slaley Hall for this prestigious tournament has a truly memorable experience. Aside from the great players on show during the week, we felt it was important that we had some interactive activities so that we can offer entertainment for all the family.”

This will be the first time that Slaley Hall has hosted the PGA Seniors Championship. The par 72 Hunting Course is a real treasure that is magnificently maintained, featuring rolling moorland, streams and lakes, towering trees and banks of rhododendrons. Well placed bunkers and tricky greens make this USGA standard course a real challenge. Tickets for the event can be purchased by calling 01675 477812.

De Vere Slaley Hall is an elegant Edwardian mansion in 1,000 acres of the finest Northumberland moorland and forest. Slaley Hall also boasts the Priestman Course on the west side of the estate, designed by Neil Coles, which offers stunning panoramic views of the Tyne Valley.
