SkyCaddie GPS celebrates 80% win rate on Legends Tour

10.50am 13th December 2024 - Sponsorship & Events

A remarkable 80% of eligible Legends Tour events were won by golfers using SkyCaddie GPS, in the 2024 season.

Eight of the top ten finishers in the season-long Race To Mauritius Order of Merit were SkyCaddie users, including eventual winner Adilson DaSilva, plus second and third place finishers Peter Baker and Scott Hend.

And SkyCaddie GPS was also used by 80% of the Top 40 finishers in the Order of Merit.

Da Silva became the fourth straight Legends Tour Order Of Merit winner to use SkyCaddie GPS, with Peter Baker (2023), James Kingston (2022) and Stephen Dodd (2021) all also using the brand.

Former Ryder Cup player Peter Baker took home the trophy in the season’s final event, last week’s MCB Tour Championship in Mauritius, but a top ten finish by DaSilva was enough to prevent the South Staffs GC golfer from scoring a second successive Order Of Merit victory.

The majority of Legends Tour competitors use SkyCaddie’s TourBook GPS devices to calculate yardages to the pin, plus layups, runouts, carry distances and strategic landing spots on the greens.

“The new PRO 5X has amazing accuracy” said Baker, who won twice on the Legends Tour in 2024. “SkyCaddie yardages are spot-on every time.”

“With a SkyCaddie I could play a golf course blind if I had to – it is so detailed and shows me the whole golf course” said American golfer Clark Dennis, who won the Costa Navarino event the Legends Tour in June 2024.

And European Tour veteran Robert Coles, who was victorious at Trump International Golf Links in August’s 2024 Staysure PGA Seniors Championship presented by Colin Montgomerie, said: “I use my SkyCaddie in every competitive round of golf. It’s a key piece of my armoury.”

SkyCaddie’s status as the Official Distance Measuring Device of the Legends Tour comes after the firm spent several seasons developing behind-the-scenes relationships with both players and officials on the Tour, proving the technology at dozens of tournaments.

Legends Tour officials now use SkyCaddie’s ground-mapped GPS yardages to create pin sheets when setting each day’s pins, enabling competitors both to download the day’s accurate hole positions onto their SkyCaddies, and also to get a printed pin sheet for the day.

SkyCaddie’s James Holmes said: “Year after year, the ‘legends’ prove yet again that SkyCaddie’s exclusive ground-mapped yardages and features-packed GPS rangefinders are literally a winning combination.

“These guys are playing for big money these days, and they trust the yardages which their SkyCaddie gives them. No wonder, when you look at this extraordinary level of success.

“The facts are plain to see: if you play golf with a SkyCaddie GPS, you are likely to score better and win more golf events.

“We look forward to another great year on Tour in 2025, starting in Marbella on Valentine’s Day! We wish all of our players on Tour, and indeed all golfers who rely on SkyCaddie GPS, a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.”

New for 2025, SkyCaddie will be presenting more new technology to Legends Tour players, in the form of its revolutionary GameTraX 360 Beta performance tracking system.
