Ricoh sponsors Women’s British Open – and trees for Africa

7.55am 2nd June 2008 - Sponsorship & Events

Ricoh Company Ltd. will continue its title sponsorship of the Ricoh Women’s British Open in 2008. This year’s tournament will be held at the Sunningdale Golf Club in England from 31st July to 3rd August.

Ricoh became the title sponsor of the event last year when it was played on the Old Course at St. Andrews. This was the first time any women’s tournament was played on the Old Course.

In addition to the title sponsorship, Ricoh is also the official supplier of printing solutions behind the scenes. Its range of digital multifunctional products is being used for a wide range of tasks in the build-up and planning of the event. During the tournament, the press center is also fully equipped with Ricoh products to support journalists with their printing, scanning, faxing and copying needs.

Protecting the earth’s natural resources and raising environmental awareness are major considerations at Ricoh, and as it did last year, the company will continue to support and promote the Seeds for Africa Charity through the Ricoh Women’s British Open. For every birdie scored, Ricoh will plant one tree, five trees for an eagle, and 1,000 trees for a double eagle.

In 2007 the funds raised from an auction and from sales of promotional items, plus the total number of points, equated to 2,236 trees being planted in Africa.
